Fan footage showcases Emi Martinez’s key role in Aston Villa’s 2nd goal vs Man United

The Argentine international played an important role at both ends this afternoon

A head-turning piece of footage centering on Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has come to the fore on Sunday evening.

Martinez, and Villa, were of course back in action earlier today.

Fresh off a concerning four-goal drubbing at the hands of Newcastle United last time out, new boss Unai Emery guided his side into an equally daunting Premier League showdown with in-form Manchester United.

When all was said and done at Villa Park, though, the hosts shocked the masses, to ultimately emerge on the right side of a 3-1 scoreline.

Amongst the goals for Emery’s troops on Sunday, alongside Jacob Ramsey and Leon Bailey, was Lucas Digne.

The Frenchman bagged the goal of the day, courtesy of a stunning pinpoint free-kick into the top right-hand corner of David de Gea’s goal.

And yet, as alluded to above, it is footage of the man between the posts at the other end which has since piqued widespread attentions, owing to his role in Digne’s finish.

This comes after a Villa supporter in attendance at the clash captured a video of Emi Martinez directing proceedings from deep.

In a bid to block the eyeline of opposite number De Gea, the Argentine made his way to the halfway line, to inform a pair of teammates of exactly where to position themselves, alongside Manchester United’s wall.

And the results, well, speak for themselves:
