Chelsea’s lowest Premier League finish

What is Chelsea’s lowest Premier League finish?

Chelsea are in the midst of a truly dismal campaign.

After 30 games of the season, the Blues sit 11th in the Premier League. Any hope of securing a Champions League place is gone, whilst even a Europa Conference League spot seems out of reach.

The west Londoners have 39 points from 30 games, whilst 7th place Brighton have amassed 46 points having played two fewer games.

Chelsea’s main issue this season has been a lack of goals, netting just 29 in 30 so far. It is the lowest total in the top-half with Championship-bound Leicester City and relegation-threatened Leeds United having also scored more than them in 2022/23.

As a result, Chelsea are on course to finish in the bottom half of the table. But what is Chelsea’s lowest Premier League finish?

For many years Chelsea have been in and around the top-four, with their 10th place finish in 2015/16 very much an anomaly.

In 1992/93, 94/95 and 95/96, Chelsea finished 11th. But their lowest Premier League finish came in 93/94 when they had to settle for 14th place.

Chelsea’s lowest points total in a Premier League season came in 1995/96 when they amassed just 50 points.
