AS Roma starlet Cengiz Under has hinted that he would be interested in a move to Premier League champions Manchester City, after confirming his hope of one day playing alongside David Silva.
Under, a 21-year-old Turkish international, arrived at the Stadio Olimpico from İstanbul Başakşehir in the summer of 2017.
Roma splashed out a fee of €13.4 million on his signature, following Under’s hugely-impressive solitary campaign in the Super Lig.
At the time, the Giallorossi were rumoured to have beaten off interest from some of European football’s biggest clubs in securing a deal for the fleet-footed wide-man.
However, Under initially struggled to find his feet during the early months of his stint in the Italian capital.
Following a disappointing opening-half to his debut Roma campaign, though, the Turk subsequently burst onto the scene with a string of sensational displays for Roma following the turn of the year.
Having failed to find the net during his first 6 months with the capital outfit, Under notched 5 goals over the space of 4 fixtures between the 4th and 21st of February, finally showcasing to fans of (now former boss) Eusebio Di Francesco’s men exactly why the club had agreed to fork out over 13 million Euro on his signature.
All told, he went on to rack up 8 goals and 2 assists across all competitions last season.
The 10-time capped international, though, has since enjoyed a somewhat hit-and-miss campaign to date this season. Between Serie A and the Champions League, Under has directly contributed to 12 goals for Roma.
However, he has actually only started in 15 of the Giallorossi’s 32 league outings, with a pair of injuries since the turn of the year having seen the gifted attacker struggle for game-time on the back of his return to action late last month.

Nevertheless, though, Under’s unquestionable talent, coupled with his sky-high ceiling, have seen a number of the Premier League’s biggest clubs express an interest in the Turk.
A report from Calciomercato in November revealed that all of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal were keen on Under. Tottenham and Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have also been named as serious suitors of the Roma star.
‘I love him!’
And Under himself has this morning hinted at his potential interest in joining one of these clubs, namely Manchester City.
Speaking in an interview with Goal, the 21-year-old was questioned on who some of his favourite players are to watch in action.
And Under went on to name Citizens’ legend David Silva as ‘the one player’ whom he enjoys watching more than any other, before revealing his ‘hope’ that he can one day line out alongside the Spaniard:
‘I have always said that it’s very nice to watch other great players. But one should always take himself as an example.’
‘You need to be self-critical and you need to improve yourself. I always watch my own videos after games.’
‘The one player I really like watching and admire is David Silva. I used to watch his videos often and I like his playing style very much.’
‘I love him, so I hope we can play together some day!’
