Man United’s poor defence
One of Manchester United’s biggest problems throughout the 2018/19 season was their poor defence.
When the latest Premier League season drew to a close, United emerged with the worst defence of the top nine clubs.
The Red Devils let in 54 goals in 38 league outings, their most ever in a single PL campaign.

United do appear to be attempting to strengthen at the back in this current transfer window.

However, United’s defensive troubles could well be improved from within.
Axel Tuanzebe spent the 2018/19 season on loan at then Championship outfit, Aston Villa.
Tuanzebe did miss a chunk of the season through injury, but he was still an integral member of Villa’s squad.
The 21-year-old played every minute as Aston Villa beat West Brom and then Derby in the playoffs to secure promotion to the Premier League.
With Tuanzebe back from his loan spell, the Manchester Evening News are reporting that the young defender is determined to force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad for the upcoming season.
Solskjaer also recently expressed his excitement at the prospect of watching Tuanzebe in pre-season:
“He’s played well, had a couple of injuries.
“He’s a boy that I can’t wait to see in pre-season for us next year.” As quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
