Technical director Tim Steidten has left West ham after two-and-a-half years at the London Stadium.
The German’s departure comes just weeks after the managerial appointment of Graham Potter, who replaced sacked former boss Julen Lopetegui.
Steidten was appointed technical director in the summer of 2023 and was responsible for West Ham’s player recruitment strategy.
His time in East London has been fraught with issues after former manager David Moyes asking the 45-year-old to stay away from the training ground towards the end of last season, before he fell out with Lopetegui during the final weeks of his tenure.
The former Bayer Leverkusen chief had also been criticised for the Hammers’ recruitment last summer, which saw them spend more than Β£100million on the likes of Max Kilman, Niclas Fullkrug and Crycensio Summerville to varying degrees of success.
Steidten’s position has looked in doubt since Potter, who was appointed on January 9, brought in Kyle Macauley as his head of recruitment.
A statement from West Ham said: “With the arrival of our new head coach Graham Potter, who has brought in his own head of recruitment, it is time for Tim to pursue new opportunities.
“We would like to thank Tim for his dedication and hard work and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Former Brighton and Chelsea boss Potter has won one of his five games in charge so far, with the Irons letting slip a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 against the Blues on Monday night.
