Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Brazilian international Igor Jesus from Botafogo on a four-year deal, in a move worth around £10 million.
The 24-year-old forward becomes Forest’s latest addition ahead of a historic campaign that will see the club return to European competition for the first time since the 1995-96 season.
His arrival is a clear statement of intent as Forest look to build on last season’s impressive seventh-place Premier League finish.
Jesus arrives at the City Ground on the back of an outstanding year with Botafogo, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s success in both domestic and international competition.
He was instrumental in helping the Brazilian side secure qualification for the knockout stages of the Club World Cup, scoring two goals in the tournament, including a memorable winner against Paris Saint-Germain.
“I’m really happy to be part of this new story, especially at a club like Nottingham Forest,” said Jesus after completing his move.

“I didn’t have to think twice about the offer, I embraced it. I embraced the project they sent me and I am delighted to be coming here and hope to do some great work.”
Forest have monitored Jesus for several seasons and believe now is the right moment to bring him to England.
His addition will boost the attacking ranks alongside Chris Wood, who netted 20 goals last term in one of the most prolific seasons of his career.
Jesus has also made his mark on the international stage. He scored on his Brazil debut against Chile last October and was a key figure in Botafogo’s double-winning campaign, lifting both the Serie A title and the Copa Libertadores.
“Igor joins a strong and united squad, we are sure he will settle well into our group,” said Nottingham Forest’s chief football officer Ross Wilson.
