Manchester City have completed the signing of English goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea for a small fee, with the 33-year-old putting pen to paper on a deal that runs through to 2026.
The experienced shot-stopper arrives at the Etihad following confirmation that long-serving goalkeeper Scott Carson will depart the club at the end of June.
Bettinelli becomes City’s second addition of the current transfer window, following the £31 million capture of left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Reflecting on his move, Bettinelli said: “It’s an honour to sign for City. I have admired from afar what this club have achieved since Pep Guardiola arrived and now, I am excited to be a part of building on that success.
“I can’t wait to work with Pep, Xabi Mancisidor and the excellent goalkeepers already here and see their methods up close.
“Hopefully I can contribute in training, the dressing room and on the pitch as we look to win more silverware over the next year.”

The former Fulham keeper had one year left on his contract at Chelsea, where he moved in 2021. However, first-team opportunities were limited, and he made only one senior appearance during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Bettinelli is set to join City’s squad for their upcoming trip to the United States, where they will compete in the Club World Cup later this month.
City are also on the verge of signing Rayan Cherki from Lyon, in a deal that could reach up to £30m.
