Liverpool are on the verge of securing their first summer signing, with right-wing-back Jeremie Frimpong set to undergo a medical later this week, according to reports.
The Bayer Leverkusen defender is poised to make the switch to Anfield after the club decided to activate his £30 million ($40 million) release clause.
Once completed, the Netherlands international will bolster Liverpool’s options on the right flank following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s anticipated departure to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Frimpong’s arrival is expected to intensify competition for Conor Bradley, who committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year contract over the weekend.
Having spent nearly a decade in the Manchester City academy before spells at Celtic and Bayer Leverkusen, Frimpong qualifies as a home-grown player under Premier League regulations.
Now 24, the Dutch full-back has made 190 appearances for Leverkusen, registering an impressive 30 goals and 44 assists across all competitions.
🚨 Jeremie Frimpong has completed first part of his medical as new Liverpool player, plan confirmed.
Contract until June 2030 set to be signed as next step then deal official.

This season has been much more of a tame run for Frimpong, but he has still been a standout performer under Xabi Alonso.
