Alexander Isak fired in his fourth goal of the season to give Liverpool a second-half lead at Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Reds, who had gone more than 228 minutes of football since Isak scored their previous top-flight goal in their 2-0 win at Ipswich Town on September 4, went ahead in the 57th minute when the Sweden striker capitalised on slack defending.

“Isak takes the plaudits from the Liverpool fans,” former England goalkeeper Rob Green told BBC Radio 5 Live. “He’s in among the fans but it’s Cody Gakpo down the right who does brilliant work to shrug off two challenges.
“Off-balance, he says ‘I’m going to get it in there somehow and just do something’. He finds a cross from under his feet. That was the chance Isak was waiting for.”

Green was confused by the part one of Bournemouth’s new signings played in the goal. “Antonio Silva, who’s been brilliant, ducks at the near post,” pointed out Green.
“He could have headed it up. I’m not sure why he ducks. Alex Scott’s asking him what he was doing.”
The Cherries have drawn three and lost one of their top-flight games this season but enjoyed a momentous result in their history by winning their first-ever European match 2-1 at Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday.
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola secured Bournemouth’s continental campaign in the second of his two seasons in charge in 2025/26 and the Spaniard returned with a side who had been unbeaten in their first six matches of the season in all competitions.

Gakpo, Milos Kerkez and Alexis Mac Allister returned in Liverpool’s three changes from their 0-0 draw at home to Fulham eight days earlier, replacing Ryan Gravenberch, Victor Munoz and Kostas Tsimikas.
Defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni (knee) and forwards Federico Chiesa (muscle) and Hugo Ekitike (Achilles) remained out.
