Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta hailed impact substitute Mikel Merino for his goals in the crucial 2-0 win over Leicester.
It was certainly not a straightforward day for the Gunners, who left it late to break the deadlock.
Arteta made the decision to bring Merino – usually a defensive midfielder – on as a striker and reaped the rewards.
The Spaniard scored twice in the final 10 minutes to give Arsenal some breathing room, closing the gap to leaders Liverpool back down to four points in the process.
Speaking after the game, he said:Β βThe first 25 minutes we struggled to get momentum.
βThe second half was very different, much more urgency. You could sense the game was going in the right direction.
βMikel is a goal threat, he’s got really good timing. He has the capacity to execute with that part of his body.
βIt was a lot of noise as well to show how much we want it. To believe in the resources and show that we want it.β
Although the Gunners may have picked up three points today, they have a long road ahead of them with players missing.
Bukayo Saka is not expected to return until April, while Kai Havertz is sidelined for the season.
Next up is a home match against West Ham at the Emirates.
