Ousmane Dembele has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year, and credited his remarkable season to being played in the centre of a three-man attack.
Paris Saint-Germain almost swept the board at the honours evening with Dembele’s strike partner Desire Doue named best young player while Luis Enrique was awarded best coach.
One of Luis Enrique’s tactical switches this year was to move Dembele inside from wide on the right and it has reaped its rewards with the former Barcelona man contributing 33 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.
That has helped PSG to win Ligue 1 while they are also in the final of the Coupe de France and Champions League.

Dembele told beIN Sports: “Playing more centrally puts me at the heart of the game and closer to goal – it’s helped me become more composed in the box.
“I always try to perform well on the pitch and to make a difference, and I’ve been rewarded for that this season. This is an honour, and it’s thanks to the club, to my teammates and to the coaching staff. They’ve given me the best possible conditions since I joined Paris Saint-Germain.
“We’ve got three weeks left, and I hope that we win as many titles as possible. I wish the best for Paris Saint-Germain because it’s a club that deserves to win those two trophies.”

Doue thrives in Paris
Dembele, Doue, Bradley Barcola and January signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have spearheaded PSG’s quest for a domestic and continental treble.
For Doue, it has been a successful first season in the capital after joining from Rennes last summer, scoring 12 goals and adding 12 assists.

The 19-year-old told the club’s official website: “This is the culmination of a great season, although it isn’t over yet because we know that the Coupe de France final and the Champions League final are still to come and that they’ll be two very important games for the club.
“I’m very happy, and I’d like to thank my partners, my teammates, the backroom staff, the coach and also the Paris Saint-Germain president for trusting me.
“I hope that they win a lot of awards because they deserve it. If I’ve won this award tonight, it’s thanks to them because our team is just extraordinary. We really enjoy playing together and working alongside such great players. It’s just a joy every day, and it’s helping me to improve.”
PSG take on Reims in the final of the Coupe de France on May 24 before looking to clinch their first Champions League crown against Inter Milan in Munich a week later.
