La Furia Roja have almost entirely dominated this head to head with four wins and a draw from their five encounters in international football. While the Czech’s impressed in the Euros last summer, it could be argued aside from the Netherlands they have struggled against top tier opponents with defeats against Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, England and Italy in the last 18 months. In contrast, Spain’s only defeat in their last nine games was the final of the Nations League to France back in October.

Therefore, 101 Great Goals' prediction for this match is Czech Republic 1 - 3 Spain and is available at odds of 12.75/1.

Alternatively, you can bet on any Czech Republic win at 4.75/1 against Spain at home on Sunday.

Or, back any away win for Spain at 1.7/1 here at the Sinobo Stadium.

You can find odds of 3.6/1 for any draw between Czech Republic and Spain on Sunday.

Match preview

Czech Republic welcomes Spain to the Sinobo Stadium in Prague on Sunday for this UEFA Nations League, Group A match. This will be the first meeting between them in nearly six years when Spain ground out a 1-0 win in the group stages of Euro 2016 with a Gerard Piqué header in the final moments of the match.

The Czechs had a good opening game win against the Swiss albeit with some fortune involved. Cesti Lvi had less of the ball than Switzerland (38% possession) and faced more shots than they had with eight shots to Switzerland's fifteen. Tomáš Vaclík was arguably their man of the match, making six saves to keep the Swiss at just one goal.

At the other end, the big question before the game was where goals would come from in the absence of Patrik Schick (pictured below). The answer here was an own-goal, with Swiss wing-back Djibril Sow putting it past his own keeper.

This came after Jan Kuchta grabbed his first goal for his country with the game’s opening goal on eleven minutes. The Lokomotiv Moscow forward now has one goal in seven caps for his country and is 3.85/1 to score again versus Spain on Sunday.

Spain dropped two points at home to Portugal despite largely dominating the game due to sloppy finishing. Although, maybe they were unfortunate in that their big chances fell to Carlos Soler and Jordi Alba.

It was Álvaro Morata (pictured above) who scored Spain's goal against Portugal. He finished off Pablo Sarabia’s through ball to give Spain the lead on the counter attack. The Juventus forward has 26 goals in 53 caps for his country and is the 5.3/1 favourite to open the scoring again on Sunday against Czech Republic.

The big disappointment is Pedri missing out due to injury. He was arguably the breakout star of the European Championships last summer. Although in Gavi, Spain have a new teen sensation in midfield to marvel over after the 17 year old Barcelona midfielder caught the eye against Portugal.

The kid is yet to sign a new deal at Barca which has seen him linked with a summer move to Liverpool. No doubt fans of the Reds will be tuning in here to see if he is the long term successor to Thiago Alcantara for club as well as country that many tip him to be.

Czech Republic team news

The Locomotive came through their opening game of a busy fixture list in June without any injuries or suspensions. Jaroslav Šilhavý is unlikely to break up a winning side so no unforced changes to the side that beat Switzerland are expected here.

Adam Vlkanova is the only player hoping to pick up his first international cap here for the Czech Republic.

Spain team news

The Spaniards also came through their opening game without any injuries or suspensions. However, Ferran Torres has a disappointing hour in the opening game against Portugal before being replaced by Dani Olmo. He would be the most likely to lose his starting place here should Luis Enrique look to make some unforced changes to his side. Aymeric Laporte and Pedri (pictured above) both remain ruled out due to injury.
