Brentford v Manchester United match preview

Manchester United head to Brentford on a Europa League high as they look to revive their Premier League campaign.

United produced a superb performance in Bilbao on Thursday night to take a commanding lead in their semi-final.

Brentford were also in action on Thursday and beat Nottingham Forest to keep alive their hopes of European action next season.

Manager Thomas Frank said:Β β€œThere’s four games left, we have a chance of finishing eighth, which would be the best position in the club’s history in the Premier League.

β€œSo that’ll be a fantastic achievement, but it depends the perfect run-in and it demands that we do what we’ve done so well over the last four years – laser-like focus on the next game.

β€œSome of them are playing the best football of their careers.”

Team news for Brentford v Manchester United

Brentford have the luxury of a near fully-fit squad for the run in but having only played on Thursday night Frank may look to make a few changes.

Kristoffer Ajer, Ben mee, Mathias Jensen and Rico Henry are all options to come into the starting Xi if required.

United are without Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez and Joshua Zirkzee, and manager Ruben Amorim will rest players with his focus on the second leg against Bilbao.

Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo all came off the bench in Spain and could start.

“We know that we have always a responsibility but in this moment we have to take a risk,” Amorim said.

“There are some positions that we don’t have more players. For example, Nous Mazraoui cannot play.

Prediction

The Bees have had another excellent season but may struggle to match their usual intensity with such a quick turnaround. United are rightfully concentrating on their European quest so a draw looks the best call.
