Goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr, the son of the former Netherlands defender and head coach Ronald Koeman, scored two goals for Eredivisie side Telstar to rescue a point in their league match against Cambuur.
Koeman Jr netted twice from the penalty spot to earn a 2-2 draw with the second spot-kick coming in the 11th minute of second-half stoppage time.
The 31-year-old keeper is not a stranger complete stranger at finding the back of the net, having scored a penalty previously, when he converted the winner against FC Volendam to confirm Telstar’s safety from relegation back in may.
In the clash on Sunday, Telstar had a player sent off in the 22nd minute and conceded two second-half goals to trail bottom side Cambuur with less than half an hour to play.
However, the hosts were awarded two spot-kicks – in the 63rd and 101st minute – and Koeman duly converted to become the first keeper to score twice in an Eredivisie game.
Famous father
Koeman Jr’s father, Ronald, was also known for his goalscoring exploits despite being utilised predominantly as a defender.
He played for clubs including PSV, Ajax and Barcelona, and was part of the Netherlands side that lifted the 1988 European Championship – to date the only major senior competition the men’s national team have won.
As a manager, Koeman was Netherlands head coach from 2023 to 2026, stepping down after the country’s last-32 exit at the hands of Morocco at this summer’s World Cup.
