The Atlanta Falcons have agreed a three-year extension worth up to $75 million with Bijan Robinson after the 24-year-old’s record-breaking season in 2025.
Robinson eclipsed Atlanta’s highest-ever scrimmage total by posting 2,298 total yards last season, setting the 12th-highest single-campaign total in NFL history.
The $51m Robinson will be guaranteed is an NFL record for a running back and includes $37m for signing. ESPN broke news of the deal on Tuesday.
Bijan Robinson contract: Why Falcons have acted
The Falcons initially took their fifth-year option for Robinson in April, four months after the Texas collegiate set a new career high of 195 rushing yards in a 27-24 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
That represented the most yards by an Atlanta player in a single game since Michael Turner recorded 208 in 2008 and featured a 93-yard touchdown run during the second quarter – the longest in Falcons history and of any player in the 2025 season.
Although the Falcons finished third in the NFC South and missed the play-offs, Robinson was their representative in the All-Pro first team and his versatility is a key part of his team’s offense alongside the likes of Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Michael Penix Jr, operating as a receiver and open-field runner.
London agreed a four-year extension worth slightly more than $141m this off-season, as did Pitts for three years, worth $54m.

Bijan Robinson: What Atlanta Falcons have said
Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham has called Robinson “one of the best players in the league”, while head coach Kevin Stefanski offered praise when his team took part in voluntary off-season workouts.
“There’s no shortage in what he can do for the football team on the field,” Stefanski said, via the Falcons’ website.
“But also the person that he is off the field and what he brings to our locker room… being a player-driven culture, he’s a driver of that just because of how he attacks each day.”
Robinson said he was “pretty excited, even just with how I feel”. “They always say [these are] your prime years,” he added. “I really feel like this is the best I have felt my whole time being here.”
