It has not been the season defending champions Liverpool would have wanted, or expected, but they can at least end it with the bragging rights over Manchester United.
The two North West giants come into the game in a battle for third place in the Premier League. United hold a three-point lead but a Liverpool win will see them climb above Michael Carrick’s side.
The Merseysiders have not lost a league game at Old Trafford since 2022 but United did win the reverse fixture at Anfield in October thanks to Harry Maguire’s late goal.
Both teams are all but certain to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
