BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson to miss up to six weeks

Liverpool will be without goalkeeper Alisson for up to six weeks, according to a report in The Athletic.

The Brazil international sustained a hamstring injury against Galatasaray on Tuesday night, suffered in the act of making a save from Victor Osimhen, and had to leave the field 11 minutes into the second half of the 1-0 defeat.

He was replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili in Istanbul and the Georgian could now get his chance of an extended run in the team.

Asked about Alisson after the game at RAMS Park, Arne Slot said: “It’s never positive if you go off like this. You can be sure he is not playing Saturday.”

He won’t play in the following weeks either.

Which games will Alisson miss?

The 33-year-old was not included in the Brazil squad named by Carlo Ancelotti for the friendlies against South Korea and Japan.

And he will miss several big matches for Liverpool as well.

After the game at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture is on October 19 when arch-rivals Manchester United are the visitors to Anfield.

A Champions League trip to Eintracht Frankfurt follows before a league game at Brentford, an EFL Cup clash with Crystal Palace and a home meeting with Aston Villa.

Another two crunch fixtures arrive before the November international break – at home to Real Madrid and away at Manchester City.

Slot struggling to find the best Liverpool

The news of Alisson’s injury is another blow for Slot, whose team are still searching for their best form following a summer of heavy spending.

The defeat at Galatasaray followed on from Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace.
