FPL 2025/26 GW7: Five players to sell or avoid in your Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 7 team
Five players to avoid in FPL 2025/26 Gameweek 7
As Gameweek 7 in FPL 2025/26 approaches, making the right call on who to let go is just as important as finding new additions, writes FPL expert Blake Hurst. This week, the watchlist focuses on five players who come with high risk – whether it’s tough upcoming fixtures, rotation concerns, or injury doubts. Offloading these options could free up crucial funds and squad space, helping you avoid potential point drains.
Table of Contents
Igor Thiago (6m)
Igor Thiago has made a bright start with three goals for Brentford, which is impressive for the young forward. However, the next three fixtures include daunting trips to Manchester City and Liverpool, two of the toughest defensive sides in the league. Additionally, Thiago’s current goal tally is nearly double his expected goals, suggesting this level of return is unsustainable over a longer period. For managers looking to avoid a points drought, it’s wise to be cautious with Thiago until Brentford face less formidable opposition and have a good fixture swing.
Richarlison (6.8m)
Richarlison’s minutes look set to be limited soon as Randal Kolo Muani edges closer to full fitness, threatening his starting spot at Tottenham. Though Spurs have some decent fixtures coming up, the uncertainty around who will lead the line makes Richarlison a risky pick. Until the pecking order becomes clear, it’s smarter to consider other Spurs options like Xavi Simons, who has been gaining more attacking involvement recently. Given the competition and rotation risk, avoiding Richarlison for now could save valuable transfer space.
Chris Wood (7.5m)
Chris Wood faces real rotation risk with Igor Jesus playing well and pushing for minutes. Nottingham Forest also have a tough upcoming schedule, including Newcastle, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Manchester United in the next four games – fixtures unlikely to offer Wood standout scoring opportunities. With fresh competition up front and challenging opponents ahead, Wood may struggle for consistent returns, making him a risky pick for the short term in FPL. Managers should be cautious and consider alternatives until the rotation settles and fixtures ease.
Jack Grealish (6.9m)
Jack Grealish’s upcoming fixtures don’t offer much appeal for FPL managers. He faces Crystal Palace, who are on an impressive unbeaten run, but more critically, he isn’t eligible to play against Manchester City in the next game due to being on loan. After that Tottenham await, another challenging fixture. These matches provide a difficult look for consistent points, making Grealish a player to avoid for now until fixtures and eligibility improve. It’s better to focus on midfielders with less rotation risk and more favourable schedules in the short term.
Alisson (5.5m)
Alisson is now firmly a sell for any FPL manager holding him after picking up an injury against Galatasaray in the midweek Champions League clash. Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed he “is definitely not going to play on Saturday against Chelsea,” which doesn’t bode well for the club’s number one goalkeeper in the short term. With uncertainty around his return date, making a switch to Arsenal’s David Raya, who is fit and starting regularly for a rock solid defence, looks like the smartest move right now. Managing the goalkeeper spot carefully here is key to avoiding any deadweight from this injury setback.
