Jaxson Dart: New York Giants to bring in NFL rookie for Russell Wilson against Chargers — report
Jaxson Dart is said to be starting for the Giants on Sunday
The New York Giants will replace starting quarterback Russell Wilson with rookie Jaxson Dart at home to the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL on Sunday, according to a report.
Under-pressure Giants coach Brian Daboll has made the change after his team fell to 0-3 for the first time in four years, ESPN said.
Wilson had a forgettable performance in the Giants’ latest defeat as they succumbed 22-9 at home to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Leader: Despite Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart rarely playing any snaps and being the backup to Russell Wilson, he still listens to every play call and practices calling plays on the sideline.

Jaxson Dart: Why have Giants replaced Russell Wilson?
While Chiefs counterpart Patrick Mahomes threw for 224 yards and a touchdown, Wilson made two interceptions and 160 passing yards.
Fans could be heard chanting “We want Dart” in a call for the second-string quarterback, who New York took in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Dart, 22, has moved ahead of third-choice quarterback Jameis Winston, with Wilson accepting after the defeat that he is experiencing “highs and lows”.
“There are always tough moments,” added Wilson, who is on his third team in three years. “You’ve got to have thick skin.
“You got to be able to know who you are, know the player that you are, know what you’re capable of. I’ve been able to show that throughout my career.”
Brian Daboll: Giants coach warned over job
The Giants have won one game in their last ten since the start of last season at MetLife Stadium, putting the future of Daboll – appointed in 2022 – under scrutiny.
Pundit Stephen A Smith said after the result that Daboll’s future could depend on bringing Dart in successfully.
“It’s time to get Jaxson Dart in there,” Smith told the broadcaster, arguing that Wilson had “clearly regressed as a pocket passer and clearly regressed in terms of what he produces when he’s under pressure”.
“Brian Daboll — you want to keep your job? Put Jaxson Dart in the game.”
The game against the Chargers, who are first in the AFC West, starts at 13:00 ET / 11:00 PT / 18:00 BST.
