Stokes proves the match-winner as Celtic see off Falkirk in the semis

Falkirk 1 – Celtic 3  (League Cup semi-final, January 29, 2012) Celtic took the lead through a Scott Brown penalty, but Falkirk levelled five minutes before the break when a patient build-up saw the Bhoys backline split like the Red Sea before Jay Fulton slotted in the equaliser. Anthony Stokes restored Celtic’s lead with a glorious free-kick from 25 yards after the break, and Anthony Stokes tapping in a third from a yard out following great work from Gary Hooper to seal the win.

Rangers 4 – Hibernian 0 (SPL, January 28, 2012) Steven Davis got the ball rolling with a lung bursting run and finish for the opener. David Healy made it 2-0 before a fine free-kick by Sone Aluko was appreciated by Ibrox. Steven Davis completed the victory with another goal on 93.

Aberdeen 1 – Dunfermline 0 (SPL, January 28, 2012) Scott Vernon’s only goal of the game was enough to give Aberdeen a 1-0 win over Dunfermline, who stay bottom of the SPL.

Motherwell 3 – St. Johnstone 2 (SPL, January 28, 2012) Henrik Ojamaa bagged a brace as Motherwell defeated St Johnstone 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at Fir Park as they consolidated their position. Ojamaa’s goals helped to put the home side 3-1 ahead before Francisco Sandaza converted a late penalty to ensure a nervy finish.

Inverness CT 0 – St. Mirren 0 (SPL, January 28, 2012) Inverness and St Mirren played out a goalless draw at the Caledonian Stadium which means both clubs remain ninth and tenth, respectively.

Motherwell go 3rd downing Dunfermline

Motherwell 3 – Dunfermline 1 (SPL, January 24, 2012) Stephen Craigan was sent off for violent conduct after 18 minutes for the hosts, but recent signing Henrik Ojamaa’s low drive after 29 minutes and Nicky Law’s 52nd minute piledriver put Well in control. Andy Kirk’s volley 10 minutes later gave the Pars some hope, but Chris Humphrey slid in Well’s third nine minutes from time.
