Thomas Tuchel issues injury update on four Chelsea stars ahead of Lille trip

While off the pitch issues continue to circle around Chelsea Football Club, there is good news on it as Thomas Tuchel has issued an injury update ahead of their trip to France for the second leg of the Champions Leg last 16.

Speaking to the media ahead of the trip to Lille, where Chelsea head into the game with a two-goal advantage courtesy of an impressive performance at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel revealed that both Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta are fit to start against the French champions.

Meanwhile, there will be late fitness tests for English pair Reece James and Calum Hudson-Odoi ahead of the tie, with both hopeful of being in training on Tuesday as they look to step up their recovery.

This will come as a major boost to Chelsea, who were forced to field a pair of centre-backs in the forms of Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr in their 1-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Chelsea to repeat European success?

Chelsea still have a long way to go in the Champions League, with this only the first knockout round of the tournament. They have the major disadvantage with (at present) no away fans for the quarter-final and only Season-ticket holders able to attend the home leg provided they make it through.

This could be the last European night with fans this season for the Blues then, and the supporters will be sure to enjoy it should it prove the case. With the future of the club uncertain, it seems difficult to see them retaining their European trophy, but this is football and stranger things have happened.
