Cristiano Ronaldo to sign new Manchester United deal on one condition

A fresh update on the future of Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged on Tuesday evening.

Ronaldo, one year on from re-joining the Red Devils, appears to be eyeing an exit for the second time in his career.

The Red Devils’ failure to secure Champions League football last season, along with United’s floundering in the transfer market, is said to have led to Ronaldo wanting to leave the club.

The striker did not return for pre-season training and was given permission to miss Manchester United’s international pre-season tour, which has now ended.

This was followed by Ronaldo flying back to England on Monday and having a meeting with Manchester United on Tuesday alongside his agent, Jorge Mendes.

During the meeting, it appears a solution to Ronaldo’s future issue was proposed.

According to Spanish outlet Cope, Jorge Mendes has asked Manchester United to renew Cristiano Ronaldo’s current contract, which is set to expire next summer.

In exchange for this, Man United would have to let Ronaldo go out on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.

On paper it does make some sense, as Ronaldo could get the Champions League football he wants and return to United next summer with the Manchester outfit hopefully having secured a spot back in Europe’s premier competition for the 2023/24 campaign.

However, as Ronaldo will turn 38 during the course of the upcoming season, it is easy to see why United may not be willing to go for that deal.
