Can the league-leaders add to Manchester United’s misery?

Chelsea look simply unstoppable right now, swatting aside Leicester City 3-0 at the King Power last weekend.

Antonio Rüdiger, N’Golo Kanté and substitute Christian Pulisic all striking in the English East Midlands.

This means Thomas Tuchel’s side start the weekend three clear of Man City and four above Liverpool having taken 16 points from the last 18 available.

Then, on Tuesday night, the Blues moved top of their Champions League group with a statement win.

Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and even Timo Werner all scored in a 4-0 drubbing of Juventus.

That is La Vecchia Signora’s biggest European defeat since March 2000 and their heaviest loss of all time in the European Cup/ Champions League.

It also Juve’s heaviest loss to anyone since a famous 4-0 defeat to AS Roma in 2004, a game known as “quattro pappine”.

So, Chelsea are now top of their group, knowing a win over Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia will ensure they finish there.

Will the league-leaders be too all strong in this heavyweight bout?

As for Manchester United, it’s been a chaotic week for them.

Last weekend, the Red Devils were demolished 4-1 at Watford, meaning they’ve now lost five of their last seven Premier League games.

This result signalled the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s time as manager, meaning Michael Carrick took charge for Tuesday’s match in Spain.

It wasn’t a vintage performance but Man United beat Villarreal 2-0 at Estadio de la Cerámica with Cristiaon Ronaldo, who else, and Jadon Sancho scoring.

This means Man United are through to the Champions League knockout stages and as group winners too.

But, in the Premier League, they’re down in seventh so have plenty of work to do.

According to multiple reports, Ralf Rangnick is set to take over as the interim manager until the end of the season.

Although, the former Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig Head Coach isn’t expected to be in the dugout until Thursday’s clash with Arsenal.

So, Carrick and his backroom staff will be in charge for this one.

Luckily, Manchester United have a surprisingly good recent record against Chelsea.

The Red Devils have kept a clean sheet in their last four league games against the Blues and are unbeaten in seven league encounters.

This is their longest unbeaten streak against Chelsea since a ten match run between 1938 and 1950.

Chelsea though should be too strong in this one at Stamford Bridge.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-1 Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has only ever scored one in 15 appearances against Chelsea, heading home in the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final.
