NFL: Rams acquire McCreary from Titans with draft pick swap

The Los Angeles Rams have bolstered their secondary by acquiring cornerback Roger McCreary from the Tennessee Titans in a trade agreed on Monday.

In exchange, the Titans will receive a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, while the Rams will also get a conditional sixth-round pick from Tennessee along with McCreary.

According to sources the Titans’ fifth-round selection is expected to fall near the start of the round, while the Rams’ compensatory sixth-round pick will likely come toward the end.

McCreary, a second-round selection in the 2022 draft, is entering the final year of his rookie deal. The 24-year-old has featured primarily as a slot corner for Tennessee this season but brings experience playing on the perimeter as well, versatility that should appeal to Rams head coach Sean McVay.

The move comes as Los Angeles continues to deal with injuries in its defensive backfield. Veteran corner Ahkello Witherspoon has been sidelined since breaking his clavicle in Week 2’s clash with the Titans and remains on injured reserve.

McVay previously said the recovery timeline for Witherspoon was roughly 12 weeks, leaving the Rams to rely on a rotation of Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes, and Darious Williams in recent weeks.

McCreary has made a solid impact in his third NFL season, recording 33 tackles, one interception, one sack, and two pass breakups across eight appearances for the Titans in 2025.

His arrival adds much-needed depth and experience to a Rams defense that has struggled for consistency against the pass.

For Tennessee, the trade represents another significant defensive reshuffle. Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson has leaned on more three-safety formations in recent weeks to add size and flexibility, with rookie safety Kevin Winston Jr. expected to see a greater share of snaps. Samuel Womack III has also been listed as the backup nickel defender.

McCreary’s departure marks the second starting cornerback the Titans have traded this season, following Jarvis Brownlee Jr.’s move to the New York Jets last month.
