Ja’Marr Chase hits out at Cincinnati Bengals after Denver Broncos loss

Star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase questioned the Cincinnati Bengals’ desire after they slipped to a second heavy defeat, a 28-3 loss at the Denver Broncos.

A week after they were dismantled 48-10 by the Minnesota Vikings, the Bengals again struggled to get anything going on both sides of the ball as a run-heavy Broncos cruised to the win at Mile High.

“Urgency is there, man, it’s just you gotta want it,” Chase said. “At the end of the day, we gotta want it. Today, it didn’t look like we wanted it.”

Chase and coach Taylor discuss offensive woes

Chase finished with five catches for just 23 yards as the Bengals continued to struggle without regular quarterback Joe Burrow.

His frustration appeared to boil over in a lengthy discussion with coach Zac Taylor in the second half.

Chase added: “We were just talking about the possession. We were just talking about what plays we can run and how can we attack certain coverages and get our playmakers the ball.

“I’m always frustrated if I’m losing but it’s part of the game. Sometimes the emotions take over. Sometimes it looks like what it’s not supposed to. It happens.”

Taylor added: “It comes across as emotional, but that’s just a captain that works his tail off.

“All he wants to do is win the game. All he wants to do is affect the game. Often times, he feels like, ‘If I have the ball in my hand, I can do that.’ And I don’t disagree with him.”

Broncos use the run to see off Bengals

The Bengals’ struggles were added to by a change in offensive strategy from the home team, who opted to give increased roles to both running backs, JK Dobbins and RJ Harvey.

Dobbins finished with 101 yards on 16 carries while Harvey’s 14 carries resulted in 58 yards.

“I’m one of those guys, if I get in a rhythm, if I can get consecutive carries, I’m going to get better,” Dobbins said.

“As the game goes on, I get better. I’m sure every running back would probably tell you that. So in the second half, that’s what you saw. Coach [Sean] Payton is starting to figure me out. … The series, getting consecutive touches, you see what happens.”
