Yet another Liverpool man confirms he will be leaving at the end of the season

Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo has confirmed that his nightmare time at Anfield will come to an end when his loan expires, with neither side having any desire to extend his tenure on Merseyside.

The Brazilian has played just 13 minutes since his deadline day loan move to the Reds from Juventus, suffering an injury that required surgery and ruled him out for much of the season.

Despite being fit in recent weeks however, the Brazilian has been left out of the matchday squad entirely for the last seven Premier League games, playing no part in Liverpool’s new resurgence and late dash for a top four spot.

The Reds have an option to make the move permanent for £37m, but will not be triggering it and Arthur himself has since confirmed he will be leaving.

“Next season I see it with good eyes. It will be decisive in my career and I am working very well,” he said. “I’m looking forward to showing this new version of Arthur”, he told Goal.

“Hopefully I have an option to say goodbye in Liverpool by playing something, to say goodbye to my team-mates, the technical committee and the fans, who have been very good to me.”

“But I have the peace of mind that when I talk to them and they tell me that no one has any complaints with me, quite the opposite. Also all of Liverpool in general, they have treated me great and I only have good words for them and a very special affection.”

He continues the exodus at Anfield, with Roberto Firmino and James Milner both also set to depart on free transfers. Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adrian are all expected to follow, while the likes of Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabio Carvalho could all be sold as part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad overhaul.
