Bet of the day

France vs Denmark - 26th 16:00

Over 8.5 match corners

France 5 or more shots on target

The two favourites for qualification out of Group D meet here in France and Denmark. The French had a great opening match victory whilst Denmark really looked average against a stubborn Tunisia team in a match that ended goalless.

Competition really heats up now with no room for error and Denmark will be desperate to get something out of the game. The Dane’s have beaten France twice recently, so they won’t hold any fear facing them.

France looked electric from an attacking perspective against Australia and although this Denmark team will offer up a tougher test, you’d expect them to create plenty of chances. Meanwhile Denmark will fancy their chances of creating as France where exposed on numerous occasions against Australia.

France average 7.2 shots on target per game and have had 5 shots on target in 70% of their matches.

Matches involving the two sides average 11.4 corners per game and both teams are strong on corners taken per game, both averaging over 5 per match each.

Tunisia vs Australia - 26th 10:00

Over 7.5 match corners

Over 3.5 Tunisia corners

Tunisia meet Australia in Group D with the two sides having very different views on their opening game. Tunisia will feel happy with a point against Denmark and take confidence in how close that game was whilst Australia, although they took the lead against France, they were exposed time and time again and probably lucky the score finished what it did.

With that being said, this should be a competitive game with both sides really lacking a real goal threat and both sides desperately needing a win here if they have any ambition of progressing.

Tunisia racked up the corners against Denmark with a massive 9 and you’d expect them to pile the pressure on again here. On average they have 5.33 corners earned per match and matches involved the two teams have averaged 9.63 match corners.

Stakes are high now with the losing team almost certainly eliminated so both teams will be going for it here.

Key stats & talking points

France and Denmark clash in perhaps the biggest tie of the day. Les Bleus one their opening outing whilst Denmark were held to a 0-0 draw.

However, the Danes have an excellent record against France in recent times, beating them twice in the last year. Should Denmark win, they will have a decent chance of topping their group.

Argentina are the only side in Group C without a point at present. As a result, should they lose to Mexico, who play Saudi Arabia in their final game, they may struggle to make it out of the group.

Lionel Messi heads into that game with seven World Cup goals, one less than Cristiano Ronaldo.
