Wolves boss Lopetegui responds to Matheus Cunha speculation

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Julen Lopetegui has, on Thursday, spoken out over the ongoing speculation surrounding the club’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid star Matheus Cunha.

Word of Wolves’ alleged interest in Cunha’s services first began to spread across the media late last week.

This comes as the powers that be at Molineux scramble to add much-needed fresh blood in the attacking third, amid what has proven a testing campaign to date.

Cunha, majorly struggling for game-time in Spain’s capital thus far this season, in turn, has been tipped as a leading candidate to fill the goalscoring void in England’s west Midlands.

Speaking to the media on the back of suggestions that Wolves’ hierarchy had gone as far as to table an opening offer for the Brazilian, new head coach Julen Lopetegui, on Thursday, was therefore unsurprisingly drawn on the subject of Cunha’s potential arrival.

And the Spanish tactician was not shy in admitting that Wolves, indeed, are ‘on it’.

Lopetegui, from here, went on to confirm that his new employers ‘also like’ Atletico defender Felipe, who could allegedly land at Molineux as part of a double deal-of-sorts next month.
