Manchester City head into the game in desperate need of three points.
The Sky Blues headed into the weekend knowing that they could be eight points off top spot when they kicked off in north London.
However, after Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal lost to Everton on Saturday, City can close that gap to two points with a win over Tottenham – though Arsenal still have a game in hand.
Ahead of kick-off, Manchester City released their starting line-up an hour before and it was interesting, to say the least.
Kyle Walker is starting at centre-back despite Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte being on the bench.
Kevin De Bruyne has been benched and it appears Jack Grealish will be playing in central midfield.
Now, an explanation for Phil Foden’s absence has been provided. As per the MEN: “Phil Foden travelled down with the squad but is not part of the matchday squad.
“We are told that his absence is down to illness rather than a simple selection issue – i.e. he would have been in the squad if fit. It is a big chance for Maximo Perrone, who does make the bench despite not being expected to play much part at all for the team this season.”
