Why Arsenal duo were absent from open training ahead of West Ham clash

Two first-team regulars did not train outside with Arsenal in the build up to facing West Ham.

During an open training session at London Colney on Tuesday, both Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko were absent, according to Sky reporter James Green

Arsenal fans should not worry about this too much though.

Unlike William Saliba, who was again missing from the session as he recovers from a back issue, the pair had reasons outside of injury for their lack of participation.

Both White and Zinchenko played against Liverpool and with Takehiro Tomiyasu out for the remainder of the season, there is an extra emphasis on White staying fit for the final eight matches.

Arsenal provided clarity on the situation stating that both White and Zinchenko were completing sessions in the gym inside and that they were not missing the outside training due to injury.

This is a big boost for Arsenal, who face West Ham on Sunday. Mikel Arteta’s side dropped two points vs Liverpool last weekend, meaning just six points separate them and Manchester City.
