What Ten Hag is expecting from Casemiro at Manchester United

Erik ten Hag has been discussing what Casemiro will bring to Manchester United.

In one of the more surprising transfers of the summer window, Casemiro has left Champions League holders Real Madrid for Manchester United.

The Brazilian is set to earn around £375,000-a-week at United and has the option of an extra year on his contract, which would keep him at Old Trafford until 2026.

All told, this would see Manchester United, including the £70m transfer fee, pay around £140m in total to the former Real Madrid man.

Casemiro was unveiled as a Manchester United player on Monday evening ahead of his new side’s meeting with Liverpool.

The Brazilian then watched on from the crowd as United earned a shock 2-1 win over the Reds.

Following the game, Erik ten Hag was quick to highlight the leadership and winning-experience Casemiro will bring to Manchester United.

“He knows the game, he knows how to win, in his career he has won so many trophies and it is important to have that in the team.

“[Raphael] Varane has it, Casemiro is another one, [Cristiano] Ronaldo has it so you need some and it is like guidance for young players who didn’t achieve now the trophies, because that is what we want to achieve so I am hoping their presence will be a huge stimulation for the rest.”

Manchester United’s next outing comes vs Southampton on Saturday and Casemiro is likely to start the clash.
