Video: Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies breaks down in tears as Canada clinch historic World Cup berth

Footage of Bayern Munich and Canada star Alphonso Davies' live reaction to his country sealing qualification for this year's World Cup has come to the fore late on Sunday evening.

The Canucks returned to action a short time ago.

In their latest outing amid a hugely impressive CONCACAF qualification campaign to date, John Herdman's troops welcomed Jamaica to BMO Field, aware that an 8th win from 13 would ensure their spot at the World Cup.

And, when all was said and done, not only did Canada manage victory, but they did so in style.

A dominant display ultimately culminated in the evening's hosts emerging on the right side of a 4-0 scoreline, courtesy of strikes from all of Cyle Larin, Tajon Buchanan and Junior Hoilett, before a late Adrian Mariappa own goal added some gloss to the result.

And, as alluded to above, one individual whose reaction to Canada's moment of glory has since gone altogether viral online comes in the form of Alphonso Davies.

Full-back Davies is of course in the midst of a spell on the sidelines at present, owing to a bout of myocarditis, a mild heart condition suffered owing to complications from Covid-19.

The 21-year-old, though, nevertheless saw his immediate reaction to his nation's triumph on Sunday evening captured in all its glory on streaming platform Twitch.

Check out footage of the moment in question below:

Making history

For those not aware, the Canadians booking their spot on world football's grandest stage marks an altogether historic moment for the country.

This comes with the Maple Leafs' last appearance at a World Cup having come all the way back in 1986.

The celebrations, in turn, will no doubt last long into the night, in a true statement of intent for the game of football across Canada.
