Tuchel provides Chelsea injury update & confirms Zakaria availability for West Ham

Thomas Tuchel spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Chelsea’s next outing.

Thomas Tuchel spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Chelsea’s next outing.

Chelsea play host to West Ham United in a 3pm Premier League tie on Saturday.

Ahead of the tie, Tuchel discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s previous discipline issues at Arsenal:

“There was never a big issue. He has a big problem with his time but he never misses a meeting, sometimes getting him 60 mins before training is an issue. It is sometimes 58 mins or 56. I am sure he will fit into our dressing room, he was always positive.”

He also confirmed new signing Dennis Zakaria will not be available on Saturday: “We need to work on the work permit so he will not be in the squad on Saturday, we hope for Tuesday.”

Elsewhere, both Reece James and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are fit to face West Ham: “Back in training and available. Only N’Golo is out.”

Chelsea vs West Ham

Chelsea fell to another embarrassing defeat in midweek, meaning they are now 10th in the Premier League with just two wins from five in 2022/23.

They have also scored just six goals, an issue Tuchel is no doubt hopeful Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will fix once he begins to play.

As for West Ham, they have won just one game this season and are seriously struggling for goals. The Hammers have netted two in five, which is the joint-lowest record in the division.
