The latest word on Liverpool’s summer transfer plans will not go down at all well with the club’s fans

The latest word on Liverpool’s summer transfer plans will not go down at all well with the club’s fans

A fresh insight into the plans of Premier League giants Liverpool on the transfer front has been forthcoming on Monday evening.

Konate the lone arrival

The summer, to this point, has of course proven an altogether quiet one when it comes to incomings at Anfield.

In fact, Jurgen Klopp and co. have added just a solitary body to the club’s ranks, in the form of defender Ibrahima Konate.

A deal for French talent Konate was actually struck before the transfer window even technically opened, after those in a position of power at Liverpool opted to activate the defender’s RB Leipzig release clause.

On the flip-side, the Reds’ board has been far more active when it comes to player departures.

Thus far, all of key midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, long-time loanee Marko Grujic and youth product Harry Wilson have been moved on on a permanent basis.

In addition, Ozan Kabak, who spent the 2nd half of last season on loan at Anfield from Schalke, has since returned to the Veltins Arena.

Liverpool finished for the summer?

In turn, with their side having essentially covered the cost of Konate’s addition through player sales over the last couple of weeks, the Liverpool faithful could be forgiven for assuming that further reinforcements would soon be making their way through the doors at Melwood.

And, as outlined above, on Monday, an insight into precisely this subject has been forthcoming online.

The news, however, is likely to go down like a lead balloon amongst the Reds faithful.

As reported by Carl Markham of the Press Association – regarded as reliable when it comes to all things Liverpool – further additions to Klopp’s ranks, at this moment in time, look altogether ‘unlikely’:
