A fresh update on the future of Brighton's Marc Cucurella has emerged on Monday.

The Spaniard has seen himself linked with a number of top clubs of late, mainly Manchester City and Chelsea.

And the Brighton defender only fuelled speculation over a potential Amex exit in an interview at the end of May.

When discussing his future, he said: “If the opportunity arises, you have to take advantage of it. There are teams that you can’t say no to,” Cucurella told Gerard Romero.

However, Brighton’s owner Tony Bloom then stated recently that Brighton have not received a bid for the full-back:

“Marc is a tremendous player, a tremendous person. He’s brilliant for the dressing room,” he said. “The players love him, Graham and the coaches love him, I love him, the fans love him.

“He was unbelievably good last season, his first season in the Premier League. We’re hoping for more to come and we haven’t had a bid for him.”

Manchester City fans should not be too concerned about those comments, though.

This comes with Fabrizio Romano writing on Monday that the Citizen’s interest in the left-back is very serious and an offer is expected at Brighton:

“I’m sure Manchester City fans will be eager for an update on Marc Cucurella, and things could start moving soon,” Romano wrote.

“Despite some mention of Chelsea also eyeing him up, at the moment there is only Man City in the race for Cucurella, though obviously they will have to move fast to avoid other clubs to enter the race.

“The interest from City has already been very serious for months and an official offer is expected at Brighton: the club does not confirm the price tag figures, but it could be around €55-60m. Man City will soon be back in contact with Brighton for Cucurella.”
