Scottish international star Kieran Tierney could be set for a season abroad in Spain after reports have linked Basque Country outfit Real Sociedad with interest in the Arsenal left-back.

Per reports from Relevo’s Matteo Moretto, Sociedad has made contact with Gunners surrounding a possible loan move for the 26-year-old Isle of Man native ahead of an important 2023-24 campaign for the former Glasgow Celtic standout.

After first establishing himself as a critical piece of the puzzle in the Emirates when he arrived during the summer of 2019 for a reported £25m under the tutelage of former Gunners boss Unai Emery, Tierney’s fortunes have been drastically altered in the last two seasons.

After the arrival of Ukrainian star Oleksandr Zinchenko, Tierney’s role was significantly reduced in North London as a clear backup to the former Manchester City defender, but even still, when he was fit and available, Takehiro Tomiyasu was selected ahead of him in the left-back birth in key moments, one of which came against Liverpool.

Now, after Arsenal brought in Dutch starlet Jurriën Timber from Ajax and subsequently called upon the international to slot in as left-back against Manchester City during the Gunners’ Community Shield win on Sunday, Tierney’s future at the club is once again in doubt after it first appeared he had a role to play in 2023-24.

With Sociedad through to the group stage of the Champions League and in need of additional quality in defense, Tierney would undoubtedly fit the bill under Imanol Alguacil at Reale Arena albeit on a temporary basis.
