Newcastle United are the latest side to be linked with Juventus striker, Alvaro Morata.

Morata has spent the previous two campaigns plying his trade in the Serie A with Juventus.

The Spaniard has been on loan in Turin from Spanish powerhouse, Atletico Madrid.

During his latest stint in Italy, Morata has provided a decent number of goals, but nothing to write home about.

In 2021/22 he would score 12 and assist nine in 48 outings across all competitions, a much lower total than 2020/21 which saw him score 20 and assist 12 in 44 games for Juve.

Now though, despite the Italian side having an option to buy Morata this summer, his future remains up in the air at present.

A number of clubs have been linked with the Spaniard, chiefly Premier League outfit Arsenal, who are in need of a striker now Alexandre Lacazette has left for free, and FC Barcelona.

On top of that duo, though, it appears another two sides are showing interest in the hitman.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, in addition to Arsenal and Barcelona, Newcastle have also taken information on the 29-year-old, while Bayern are waiting to define Robert Lewandowski's future.

In terms of how much any potential suitor would have to cough up for Morata, a fee of between €20-30m is being touted in Italy.

Should Newcastle sign Morata?

Whilst Morata is clearly a top talent and would improve Newcastle to some degree, he is well known for his ability to miss easy chances on a regular basis.

And given the Magpies currently do not have the most reliable goalscorers, barring Callum Wilson who is injury-prone, perhaps Newcastle should look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
