Kovacic pushed out of Real Madrid
Kovacic is now in the shop window after he’s spoken about his frustrations at Real Madrid.
Under contract with Los Blancos until 2021, Kovacic made 36 appearances for Madrid last season. He scored three goals.
During the World Cup Kovacic has indicated he’s ready to switch clubs this summer. He’s told Marca:
I would like to play more at Real Madrid because I love football and I love being on the pitch.
I know that it’s difficult to be a starter at Real Madrid, especially when I arrived at a really young age.
I understand the situation, but because of that I believe the best thing for me would be to go to another club where I’d have the opportunity to play regularly as a starter.
I think I can have this opportunity and it’s one I want right now.
Kovacic’s huge release clause
The problem for Man United or any other suitor for Kovacic is the player’s release clause.
Kovacic has a 300 million euro buyout clause in his contract.
As no suitor will be willing to pay that fee, that means they’ll have to negotiate with Florentino Perez for the Croatian midfielder.
