Leeds United continue to be aggressive this summer in the transfer market as the Elland Road hierarchy and club director of football Victor Orta have seen fit to back Jesse Marsch in a considerable reinforcement campaign that could now be setting its sights on Norwegian international midfielder Sander Berge.
That report comes by way of The Star’s Sheffield United correspondent James Shields, who tweeted earlier today that Berge’s agent was getting ‘busy’ amid reported interest from Leeds in what would likely be a replacement for Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips is still on the radar at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City are linked with a heavy interest in the England international, which would leave Leeds well short of central midfield options capable of being deployed as a ball-winner or in a defensive midfield role.
Though previous reports had linked the Whites with a possible approach and interest in the 24-year-old Bærums-native, the club have not tabled an official offer for the midfielder, as further suggestions have linked some inside the national team camp with trying to influence the player to secure a move away from Sheffield United this summer.
Leeds have already expertly navigated the summer market after securing a trio of deals for RB Salzburg pair Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen, as well as former Spanish youth international Marc Roca from Bayern Munich.
The Whites have only been made to part with roughly £50 million for the three deals, and have also been said to be considering a move for Dutch starlet Cody Gakpo.
Should a move materialize for Berge before the beginning of the season, it shows positive intent by Leeds to address key losses appropriately and early on in order for manager Jesse Marsch to continue to improve the side as he did after arriving during the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.
With Berge being valued currently at just ~£14 million by Transfermarkt, another shrewd signing could potentially be on his way to Yorkshire come the end of the summer.
