Arsenal ‘edging towards’ White deal

Arsenal have been looking to get some early business done in the window and hope to complete some signings before the European Championships’ completion.

Two players which Arsenal are reported to be close to signing are Brighton’s Ben White and Anderlecht’s Sambi Lokonga.

The Belgium midfielder has been rumoured to be prioritising a move to Arsenal over other interested parties and a deal could be reached for around £20 million.

Whereas with White, it is a more complicated deal to do. Brighton are demanding a sizeable fee but Goal reports that, despite some suggestions of some problems with the deal, the Gunners are ‘edging closer’ to completion.

Away on international duty, then white has conducted a recent interview what she was asked about the speculation surrounding his future and was coy in his response.

“It’s nice, it’s happened quite a lot over the last two years, there’s been a lot of noise,” he said.

However, Simon Jordan has questioned White’s move to Arsenal.

“Why would he want to go there?” said the former Crystal Palace owner on TalkSport.

“With respect to Brighton it’s a step up but there may be other steps available to him that are far more compelling than Arsenal.”

Mikel Arteta seemingly sees White as a player with great potential to be a long-term centre-half option for the club.

Arsenal have not signed big-money players from within the Premier League in recent years but this window could see a drastic change to the club’s transfer policy with several incomings possible.
