Five players expected to leave Arsenal this summer

Arsenal have had a fairly active 2022 summer transfer window so far.

Arsenal have had a fairly active 2022 summer transfer window so far.

The Gunners have made two major signings and also brought in two back-up options.

Mikel Arteta’s side have spent big on Gabriel Jesus, who joined from Manchester City to become Arsenal’s no.9. The north Londoners also signed Fabio Vieira from FC Porto, who is expected to provide competition for the likes of Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe.

Elsewhere, Matt Turner is now the back-up to Aaron Ramsdale, whilst 19-year-old Marquinhos, who was signed from Sao Paulo, is likely to be one for the future.

However, the Gunners are yet to do much business on the outgoings front.

In fact, Alexandre Lacazette is the only player to leave the club this summer that actually played some minutes for the Gunners in 2021/22.

So, if Arsenal want to bring in some more players this summer, you would assume that they need to shift out at least a couple of old faces.

And it does look as though Mikel Arteta and co. are trying to move on as many as five players.

Speaking about outings at the Emirates this summer, Fabrizio Romano had this to say:

“The negotiation for Bernd Leno with Fulham has been dragging on for some time. For the moment, talks continue but so far there is still no agreement on the price,” Romano explained.

“For Nuno Tavares, in the next week the negotiations with Atalanta for a loan deal will continue (Atalanta want a buy option clause, Arsenal not).

“Arsenal are open to letting Nicolas Pepe leave but at the moment there is no official offer yet. The player himself also changed agents this summer in an attempt to get a move, but it’s proving a tricky sale.

“Pablo Mari is on the list of Fenerbahce and Verona in Italy, while for Lucas Torreira there are many interested clubs including Valencia, but Arsenal want to sell only on their own terms.”
