Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida has publicly expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, and hinted Chelsea would be his dream move.

Geertruida has been on Feyenoord’s books since 2012 when he joined their youth ranks for free.

The 21-year-old has since gone on to feature over 100 times for their senior side, including on 42 occasions during 2021/22.

Geertruida is right-back by trade, but he is also capable of playing as a centre-back, making him a potentially great replacement for the ageing Cesar Azpilicueta at Chelsea.

And, as mentioned above, Geertruida has been expressing his admiration towards Chelsea and English football, and has detailed the reason he loves the Blues:

“I want to play in the Premier League one day. When I was young, I saw Arjen Robben play at Chelsea in a scary team. Then I thought: I want that too! I also have a shirt of him. Chelsea was just my club, man. Just like Feyenoord from an early age,” he said.

The Dutchman’s representatives are aware of his desire to make a switch to England at some point in the future. However, his agent has so far not received an approach from Chelsea or any other club from the Premier League:

“Certainly. I just haven’t had the chance to go to such a dream club yet. They have never called. My agent also knows that I am a fan of the Premier League. But Feyenoord is still my dream club,” he explained.
