Details revealed as Newcastle table new Joao Pedro bid

The Magpies are pushing hard for Watford’s talented frontman

A fresh insight into Premier League outfit Newcastle United’s efforts to add to the club’s attacking options has been provided on Thursday.

The subject of potential reinforcements up top has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines at St. James’ Park to this point in the summer.

With Chris Wood having not exactly set the world alight since his January move to Tyneside, and Callum Wilson a constant injury concern, Eddie Howe and co. have come to the understandable conclusion that fresh blood is needed.

This comes after first-choice target Hugo Ekitike opted to reject Newcastle, in favour of linking up with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The sights of the Magpies, in turn, have since turned towards the Championship.

With Crystal Palace understood to be eyeing Ismaila Sarr, the transfer team at St. James’ have too set their sights firmly on a key member of the attacking setup at Watford.

The player in Newcastle’s sights? Joao Pedro.

The last couple of weeks have seen it widely reported that the Geordie outfit are ready to go all to land Watford’s highly-regarded 20-year-old talent.

And, on Thursday, as alluded to above, a fresh insight into the situation has been provided.

The info comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that the powers that be on Tyneside have tabled a fresh proposal for Joao Pedro.

The offer consists of a £22 million up front fee, followed by a further £3 million in potential add-ons.

Watford, for their part, are holding out for closer to £30 million, albeit with confidence mounting that a deal will ultimately be struck, owing largely to the will of Pedro himself to take his talents to Newcastle.
