The player in question is Mateo Kovacic.
According to the Evening Standard, Manchester City aim to complete the Β£35m signing of Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic before the end of June.
The 29-year-old is ready to accept a contract offer from Pep Guardiolaβs treble-winning side while the clubs remain locked in negotiations over his transfer fee.
Kovacic is now entering the final year of his Chelsea contract, meaning his transfer fee is unlikely to be too high.
Whilst a solid player for the Blues in the past, Kovacicβs sale does make some sense given how many players were brought in and how much money Chelsea spent in the last two transfer windows.
Chelsea spent a world record Β£600m on 18 players and registeredΒ a Β£121m loss in the club accounts without qualifying for Europe this past season.
As well as Kovacic, NβGolo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy and more have been tipped to depart the club.
