Chelsea loan watch week 12: The latest on Maatsen, Cumming and more

How Chelsea’s loanees got on away from Stamford Bridge

Just 5 Chelsea loanees featured over the weekend, with several missing through injury.

101 rounds up just how they got on away from Stamford Bridge. For more Chelsea content, check out 101′s dedicated Chelsea page here.

Ian Maatsen (Burnley)

Maatsen played every minute of his side’s two Championship games as Burnley extended their lead at the top of the Championship table, continuing their unbeaten run. A key asset in Vincent Kompany’s Clarets side, the Dutch defender had 120 touches (2nd in his side) as a last-minute winner helped them overcome a stubborn Reading side.

However, he was lucky to avoid conceding a penalty after fouling Reading’s Tom Ince. Fortunately for him, the referee turned the appeals down.

Jamie Cumming (MK Dons)

Cumming kept a clean sheet, making three saves as MK Dons were held to a 0-0 draw with Cheltenham Town, leaving them in a lowly 21st place in League One.

Lucas Bergstrom (Peterborough)

Bergstrom also kept a clean sheet as Peterborough edged out local rivals Cambridge United 1-0, making four saves to ensure his side took all three points from the clash, taking them up to fourth place and six points away from automatic promotion in League One.

Nathan Baxter (Hull City)

Baxter made five saves, but could not stop the Tigers from falling to a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, leaving Hull City balancing precariously just three points above the relegation zone.

Callum Hudson Odoi (Bayer Leverkusen)

Hudson Odoi grabbed his first goal for Leverkusen in midweek as he helped them scrape a draw with Atletico Madrid and keep their hopes of coming third in their Champions League group alive. He was then a late substitute for the German side in the Bundesliga as former teammate Timo Werner scored in a 2-0 win for RB Leipzig over Odoi’s side.

Henry Lawrence (MK Dons)

Lawrence started both of MK Dons games, helping them to take four points from a possible six against Charlton and Cheltenham Town.

Malang Sarr (Monaco)

Sarr started for Monaco against Angers over the weekend but picked up a yellow card midway through the first half and was taken off at the break in a disappointing performance.

Unused substitutes/Didn’t feature

Tino Anjorin (Huddersfield)

Anjorin remains sidelined with severe glandular fever, and could be out for a while. Huddersfield Town boss Mark Fotheringham told the media that “You’re not likely to see them [imminently] and that’s unfortunate, but the medical staff are working hard with them, they’re monitoring it day by day, but I don’t see them being there in the near future. I think it’s a little bit more long term with regards to all the players that I’ve not had, all the players who would have been so-called starters at the start of the season.”

However, he added, he has no doubts over Anjorin’s ability.

“Tino is the best 10 in the league, no ifs or buts. We will welcome him back.

“He is a fantastic boy as well, he is full of energy, he is a polite guy, he has got a very extravagant nature and he is a great kid. I really admire him for that because I love personalities, I’m used to working with them.”

Harvey Vale (Hull City)

Romelu Lukaku (Inter)

Sam McClelland (Barrow)

Prince Adegoke (Welling United)

Ethan Wady (Woking FC)

Tiemoue Bakayoko (AC Milan)

Levi Colwill (Brighton)

Bryan Fiabema (Forest Green Rovers)
