Atletico Madrid are expressing an interest in wantaway Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports.

Ronaldo, one year on from re-joining the Red Devils, appears to be eyeing an exit for the second time in his career.

Unlike the first time Ronaldo left Old Trafford, though, and had the pick of football's top clubs, the 37-year-old is now finding it hard to garner any suitors at all.

It was reported by the Evening Standard that Chelsea were offered the Man United striker by agent Jorge Mendes, but Thomas Tuchel is said to be lukewarm on the prospect of signing an aging attacker.

Thenaccording to ESPN, Ronaldo was offered to Paris Saint-Germain, but the French champions rejected the possibility of signing the Manchester United forward this summer.

Now, a fresh report from ESPN claims that the latest club to express an interest is Atletico Madrid.

However, it is added that it is unlikely the Spanish club will make a move for the 37-year-old as it stands.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are remaining firm in their stance, unwilling to entertain any offers for Ronaldo to leave the club.

This leaves the veteran attacker, and United, in a pretty tough spot. CR7 clearly doesn’t want to remain at Old Trafford and, even if the club want to keep him, it is obvious that he does not fit Erik ten Hag’s style of play, meaning his presence for another year could hamper the Red Devils' development as a club under the Dutchman.

On the other hand, United also do not appear to have any new striker options lined up this summer, which is perhaps why they are keen to maintain Ronaldo’s services for another year.
