According to Turkish journalist Resat Can Ozbudak, Arsenal full-back Tavares has held talks with Galatasaray over a potential summer move and it has been suggested that Tavares joining the Turkish side could help Arsenal in their hopes to sign Sacha Boey.

Boey is valued at around €20m so offering up Tavares would reduce that fee a fair bit.

Tavares is currently competing in the Under-21s European Championship with Portugal, meaning his future will not likely be solved until after the tournament.

Galatasaray director Cenk Ergun has also insisted that no approach has been made for the 22-year-old Boey:

“There are currently no official offers for Sacha Boey,” he said.

Tavares joined Arsenal from Benfica in the summer of 2021. He went on to have a mixed 2021/22 season with the Gunners, as his defensive awareness was called into question several times.

The Gunners did something similar with William Saliba, who is now one of their best players.

Unlike Saliba, though, Tavares’ stint in France was largely a failure and he now looks set to be sold by Arsenal after just one season playing in an Arsenal shirt.
