A fresh update on the future of in-demand Ajax star Lisandro Martinez has been provided late on Thursday evening.

Stopper Martinez, of course, has been hotly tipped for a Premier League switch of late.

Amid the ongoing efforts of both Arsenal and Manchester United to reinforce their respective backlines ahead of the new campaign, the two giants of English football are understood to have identified the Argentine international as a priority target.

Big-money proposals on the part of both clubs, in turn, have been tabled, albeit with it long having remained unclear which outfit boasts the lead in the race to actually land Martinez.

If the latest word stemming from his home country of Argentina is anything to go by, though, then fans of Arsenal and Man United alike will not be forced to wait too much longer for their answer.

This comes amid claims on the part of reliable outlet TYC Sports that, given a direct choice between the Emirates and Old Trafford, Martinez has now decided on his next landing spot.

Though the identity of his soon-to-be employers is not revealed, it is suggested that the 24-year-old's decision will be announced later tonight.

*Update* - Ensuing reports suggest that Martinez has opted to follow ex-boss Erik ten Hag to Manchester United.
