Arsenal appear to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Sassuolo and Italy striker, Gianluca Scamacca.
Sassuolo signed Scamacca all the way back in 2017, when he joined the club from PSV’s youth system.
The forward subsequently impressed on loan, and was finally handed a chance at his parent club this past season.
And, so far, Scamacca is taking full advantage of that opportunity. He scored 16 goals in 36 Serie A outings in 2021/22. He was also called up to the Italian national team for the first time in September of last year.
Scamacca is under contract with his current side until 2026, but that has not stopped Arsenal from showing an interest.
Italian outlet the Gazzetta dello Sport claimed earlier this month that Arsenal had tabled a £35m offer for Scamacca, but it was rejected.
Now, however, the Gunners appear to have been handed something of a boost in their pursuit of the striker.
This comes amid reports that Uruguayan hitman Agustin Alvarez has left Penarol to join Sassuolo.
This could be seen as Sassuolo signing a replacement for Scamacca, since added to by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Italian ‘could really leave’ the Mapei Stadium this summer:
