Aaron Ramsey’s Arsenal exit
The Mail on Sunday spin a couple of classic Arsenal transfer stories this weekend.
After back to back defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final and Premier League, it’s easy to table negative Arsenal tales right now.
The headline rumour is that Welsh international Aaron Ramsey plans to leave the Gunners.
Ramsey is out of contract in 2019, meaning Arsenal could be forced to sell the midfielder this summer if he’s refusing to sign a contract extension.
27-year-old Ramsey has six goals and six assists in 17 Premier League games this season. He’s scored seven goals and chipped in seven assists in 22 games for club and country in all competitions.
Which clubs would be interested in Ramsey right now? Would any of the top five be jumping at the opportunity to sign a player with his injury record?
Jogi Low to replace Arsenal Wenger
The other rumour spun by the Mail is the claim German international manager Jogi Low could replace Arsene Wenger in the Arsenal dugout.
While many Gooners may wish this recycled story to be true, it’s doubtful right now.
Firstly, Wenger has a contract until the end of next season.
Second, Low is contracted to the German FA until 2020, after the European Championships.
While this summer could be tricky to negotiate for Low due to the World Cup in Russia.
Low also has no Premier League experience. And would he really be the first choice to succeed Wenger?
Wenger before Brighton
Contrary to paper reports claiming Wenger could go at the end of the season, the Arsenal boss snapped at reporters in his Brighton presser when he was again asked to clarify his position:
My position is my position. Honestly, that’s the last worry I have at the moment. My worry is to focus on getting the team ready for tomorrow’s game.
I turned the whole world down to respect my contracts so I am amazed that I still have to answer these type of questions.
